This Zoo dad is in a legendary class all his own. At 56, Ozzie the western lowland gorilla is the oldest living male gorilla in the world. He’s a father, grandfather and great-grandfather with descendants at Zoo Atlanta and AZA zoos around the U.S. As one of the original pioneers of the Zoo’s landmark Ford African Rain Forest, his legacy is one that has defined the history of an internationally-renowned gorilla program that has shared insights on his species’ social behavior and biology with the world.
Ozzie will receive special 56th birthday surprises at 10:30 a.m. at Gorilla Habitat Two. Happy birthday, Ozzie!
