Description

WRFG presents our 32nd Annual Labor Day Blues BBQ on Monday, September 4, 2017, from 1:00 - 8:00 pm.

Event Details

The event honors Ellyn Webb of Northside Tavern; she was a major champion of the blues scene in Atlanta and provided a place for young musicians to learn their craft as well as for elder musicians to be celebrated.

This years musical guests include

Tribute, a Celebration of the Allman Brothers Band - This 8 piece cover band will start the day and will be a great way to pay tribute to the recent passings of Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks.

The Breeze Kings All-Star Revue - The Breeze Kings own the Thursday night spot at Northside and we couldn't find a better band for the next slot. Several Northside Tavern regulars, including Stoney Brooks, will be joing them as special guests.

The Nick Moss Band - Based in Chicago, this band has a classic Chicago and West Coast blues sound. Harp player Dennis Gruenling is expected to join them. Nick, his band, or his recordings have been nominated for Blue Music Awards 16 times (including both Album of the Year and Band of the Year in 2017) and he has recorded 12 albums to date. His latest is the 27 track "From The Root To The Fruit".

Mudcat and the Northside Mentors with the Atlanta Horns - Batting clean-up in our Northside Tavern-centric lineup will be Mudcat and the Northside Mentors with the Atlanta Horns. Joining them will be Eddie Tigner, Bill Sheffield, Frankie Lee Robinson, and more special guests.

The Blues BBQ will be held at the Park Tavern, 500 Monroe Drive, Atlanta, at the corner of 10th and Monroe overlooking Piedmont Park. Barbecue will be available for purchase.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Children under 12 are admitted without charge. All proceeds go to benefit your community radio station, WRFG 89.3 FM.

Funding for this event is provided in part by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, under the Guidance of the Fulton County Arts Council, the Atlanta Blues Society and Big Green Egg.
