2019 Atlanta Jewish Film Festival Young Professionals Night presented by ACCESS

The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival will screen the North American premiere of Leona for their Young Professionals Night, presented by ACCESS. Making the transition into adulthood, a young woman from Mexico City finds herself torn between her Syrian-Jewish family and a forbidden love, in this delicate, melancholic romance. Ariela is an independently-minded mural artist living with her traditional family in a cloistered Jewish neighborhood. Under pressure to find an appropriate husband, a serendipitous encounter leads to a passionate courtship with Ivan (Christian Vazquez), a non-Jewish suitor who introducers her to a world of possibilities beyond her sheltered life. Audience members can look forward to a pre-film party at 6:30 p.m. and wraps up with a Q&A discussion with filmmaker, Isaac Cherem, and lead actress, Naian González Norvind.
