ATLANTA EVENT TO BE HELD SEPTEMBER 21, 2019 AT

THE I.B.E.W. 613 BUILDING

The second annual National Expungement Week (N.E.W) will be held from September 21-28, 2019, with events in 30 cities throughout the country - including Georgia cities of Atlanta, Macon, and Savannah. The N.E.W Atlanta Kick-off event will take place on SEPTEMBER 21, 2019, 10 AM to 4 PM at the I.B.E.W. 613 Union Hall, 501 PULLIAM ST SW, #250, ATLANTA, GA 30312.

Events to be featured throughout the week include free clinics to help restrict eligible convictions from criminal records, complementary services such as resume writing and voter registration, educational events about Georgia’s law, and civic hack-a-thons. Hack-a-thons will take place on the 21st in Savannah and Atlanta in conjunction with the state kickoff, community events are planned throughout the week in Macon, and there will be a wrap celebration event in Savannah on the 28th.

While the national event is the work of a coalition of more than three dozen organizations led by Equity First Alliance and Cage-Free Repair, Georgia organizing efforts have been the result of a state-level coalition led by Reform Georgia including New Georgia Project, 9 to 5 GA Working Women, Black Voters Matter, and Alliance for Black Lives.
