Please join Atlanta historian Dr. Skip Mason of (Skip’s Vanishing Black Atlanta Facebook Page (with over 25,000 members) on a historical tour of Black Entertainment Sites and Sounds of Atlanta, Saturday, September 28, 2019 .9:00 a.m. Continental Breakfast. Bus will depart at 9:30 a.m. from West Mitchell Street C.M.E. Church at 560 Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. Meet Atlanta history makers including former band members, family members of owners of night clubs at each stop. Lunch will be served upon return.
The tour will feature a look at the history and development Black Entertainment from the turn of the century to the 1980s and will include the following
The Odds Fellows Building (Auditorium, Theater and RoofTop)
The 81 Theater, Royal, Ashby Theaters and others
The Top Hat Club/Royal Peacock Club
The Auburn Casino
WERD Radio Station
The Sunset Casino/Magnolia Ballroom
The Bird Cage and the Town Club, the Paladium on Bankhead
Nightlife on Simpson Road (The Pussy Cat, Music in the Trees, Lincoln Country Club)
Hunter Street ( The LaCarousel, Donn Clenndennons)
Campbellton Road (MrVs, Ciscos, Markos)
