Description
Mindfulness and Compassion Meditation Training (CBCT®)
Event Details
You’ve heard the words meditation and mindfulness before, probably a lot in the past year. These terms are showing up everywhere. Online, magazines, podcasts, conversations… you name it! Research shows that meditation is one of the most effective stress management tools and can dramatically improve our health, productivity, and well being.
Are they just buzzwords? Sign up to see for yourself!
What is it?
This training is called Cognitively-Based Compassion Training (CBCT®) and it was developed by Emory University in 2004. In this training, we’ll discuss the science behind mindfulness and compassion and you’ll also learn ways to better sharpen your ability to focus, calm the mind, and direct thoughts more positively, while increasing kindness and compassion for yourself and others.
What's in it for you?
The training is designed to reduce stress and anxiety, increase self‐care, and enhance the connection with others through the use of mindfulness and analytical meditation practices. The goal is to increase your resiliency and ultimately provide you with an overall sense of well-being.
How?
We'll try to achieve this through instruction, in-class discussions, and daily short meditations. The program consists of a structured and progressive series of 6 modules. We'll meet for 1 hour and 30 minutes, once a week, for 8 weeks starting on September 10th. A daily 15 minute meditation will also be assigned each week. For better discussion and practice, the training is available to only 10 participants.
