Franklin Pond Chamber Music’s Spring Concert – Fall into Spring

Franklin Pond Chamber Music, in collaboration with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra Chamber Players will captivate classical music lovers at their Fall into Spring Concert, 6 p.m. on May 3 at the Woodruff Arts Center’s Rich Auditorium.

Thirty-two exceptionally talented middle and high school musicians will present a diverse collection of works ranging from a traditional string quartet and trio, both wind and brass quintets, and a rare and beautiful cello quartet. Audiences will enjoy a broad repertoire of chamber works including Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven, Dvorak, Mendelssohn, Debussy, Gabrieli, and Rudolf Matz.

This unique performance event is the product of a collaboration between two of Atlanta’s most acclaimed music education institutions: Franklin Pond brings to the table nearly 20 years of training young gifted chamber musicians, while ASYO has a 46-year history of superior orchestral training. “We offer our students’ so many opportunities by bringing together the best of both institutions,” says Lachlan McBane, program manager for Franklin Pond, “creating a wonderfully diverse assembly of students, teachers, experience levels, and performances.”

The Tangent Trio, playing Beethoven, has earned a national reputation and is currently competing in the finals of The Coltman Chamber Competition in Austin, TX. All eight chamber ensembles receive coaching by Franklin Pond’s premier faculty as well as master classes taught by world-renowned soloists and chamber music musicians.
