On August 27th 1966, John and Asiemoula Papadopoulos opened the first Athens Pizza in a little town called Putnam, Connecticut. Everything was homemade, from the meatballs to the tomato sauce. In 1977 John and Asiemoula opened their first Athens Pizza in Decatur and it has been a local favorite ever since. Over the course of the years the food has not changed and neither has the spirit of the founders. The same delicious recipes are still used today, over 25 years later. You still feel as if you are eating in their home
