Description
The purpose of this training is to provide child sexual abuse prevention, practical tools, and encouragement for the demands of today's single parent.
Event Details
Today, one-third of American children - a total of 15 million - are being raised without a father. Nearly five million more children live without a mother. Our emphasis is on reducing the inherent risks of child sexual abuse, which is statistically higher in single parent homes. The increased risk is not necessarily caused by single-parenthood itself, but a combination of economic pressures, family instability, and conflict between parents. A single parent with adequate resources may provide a stable, nurturing home in which children thrive just as well as those who have two parents. On the other hand, a single parent who is struggling emotionally, physically, and financially with little time, energy, or skill for parental duties might increase a child's risk for a variety of problems.
