Trinity Presbyterian Church of Atlanta will host acclaimed NYT bestselling author and professor Arthur Brooks on November 16, 2023, from 7 - 8 pm, with a book signing to follow from 8-8:30 pm. Trinity’s Rosemary Kittrell Memorial Lectureship Fund brings prominent thinkers and theologians to examine faith's role in the world. This annual event is free and open to the public, and those interested must reserve advance tickets at bit.ly/Kittrell2023. Brooks' lecture is titled "Love Your Enemies" and will draw on lessons from his national bestseller, Love Your Enemies: How Decent People Can Save America from the Culture of Contempt. Weaving together ancient wisdom and cutting-edge behavioral science, Brooks provides a roadmap to loving one another and gaining strength from our differences.
“In an increasingly polarized culture, we must actively seek tools for understanding one another and disagreeing without contempt. We look forward to hearing Arthur C. Brooks’ perspective and hope the Atlanta community will join us at Trinity for this educational and inspiring evening,” said Rev. Rebekah Close LeMon, senior pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church. A Question-and-Answer session moderated by Rev.LeMon will follow the lecture.
Brooks is the Parker Gilbert Montgomery Professor of the Practice of Public and Nonprofit Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School and Professor of Management Practice at the Harvard Business School, where he teaches courses on leadership and happiness. He is also a columnist at The Atlantic, writing the popular “How to Build a Life” column. Brooks is the author of 13 books, including the 2022 #1 New York Times bestseller From Strength to Strength: Finding Success, Happiness, and Deep Purpose in the Second Half of Life and the forthcoming Build the Life You Want: The Art and Science of Getting Happier with co-author Oprah Winfrey available September 2023. He speaks to audiences worldwide about human happiness and works to raise well-being within private companies, universities, public agencies, and community organizations.
