The Foundation of Wesley Woods sets sights on 35th anniversary celebration at 2024 Heroes, Saints & Legends Awards
Event Details
The Foundation of Wesley Woods will host the 35th annual Heroes, Saints & Legends Gala on September 19, 2024, at Flourish by Legendary Events in Buckhead. The cherished event and award ceremony draws over 400 guests annually to honor and pay tribute to notable Georgians who have transformed Atlanta's community through a lifetime of commitment to leadership, service, and philanthropy.
The 2024 honorees are:
Glenn and Susan Warren, esteemed leaders and advocates for Wesley Woods and Atlanta's broader philanthropic community; and
Renee Lewis Glover, founder and managing member of the Catalyst Group and the former president and CEO of the Atlanta Housing Authority
Since its inception in 1990, 115 exemplary leaders have been celebrated including Rev Dr. Joseph E. Lowery, Gov. Nathan Deal and J.B. Fuqua, and has raised more than $8.2 million for the Foundation of Wesley Woods. The proceeds support over 1800 older adults living in Wesley Woods residential communities across North Georgia, providing essential resources for charitable care, pastoral care, and innovative wellness programming.
"As we commemorate our 35th anniversary, we are honored to recognize individuals whose visionary leadership has reshaped Atlanta's landscape," said Diane Vaughan, president of the Foundation for Wesley Woods. "Renee Glover's transformative initiatives in reimagining Atlanta's public housing communities, coupled with the Warren family's long legacy and profound impact on Wesley Woods residential communities, epitomize our commitment and compassion for underserved older adults."
Vaughan further highlighted the remarkable civic contributions of the 2024 honorees, citing Glover's ten board appointments, including Habitat for Humanity International and Fannie Mae, alongside the Warren's extensive involvement with non-profit institutions, including the Good Samaritan Health Center, the Candler School of Theology, the Atlanta Speech School, and Northside United Methodist Church, among others.
In celebration of the Gala's milestone anniversary, Wesley Woods is inviting and honoring all past recipients, creating an evening filled with celebration and camaraderie. Phil Jacobs, the Gala Chair and past honoree, will play a dual role in the special programming. Hosted by Emcee Monica Pearson, the evening includes an elegant reception, dinner, and musical entertainment and performances, followed by an inspiring awards ceremony with videos and lively remarks with each honoree.
