Atlanta is one of the most diverse cities in the South, and with that diversity comes an abundance of great cuisine. Tacos are a food offering that the restauranteurs in town particularly excel with.

Super Mercado La Villa & Tacos La Villa

Tacos La Villa has affordable, authentic tacos that are only enhanced by the DIY salsa bar. The taco plate comes with three tacos of your choosing along with rice and beans for only $6! 

Tacos La Villa offers unique tacos like beef tongue, barbacoa, and asada. The counter service spot is situated in Smyrna near Sun Trust Park, making it a great stop before or after Atlanta Braves games. 

RReal Tacos

Adrian Villareal went from being a chef at the former Richard Blais-fronted new American eatery, The Spence, and now runs this Mexican taqueria in Midtown. The Monterrey native has stacked the menu with excellent grilled meat, most notably in the al pastor tacos. 

For an extra $0.25, customers at Rreal Tacos can upgrade to a housemade corn tortilla for their tacos. The counter-service concept is also known for its soups and sweets. 

The Original El Taco  

The top destination in Virginia-Highland for tacos is The Original El Taco. While they serve the traditional taco types available at most places, the Taco of the Day usually steals the show. 

One of the more unique seasonal options is the fried chicken liver taco. In addition to their flagship location in VA-HI, The Original El Taco has outposts at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Concourse F and Concourse C so travelers on the go can get their fix. 

Taqueria del Sol

Taqueria del Sol chef Eddie Hernandez is a regular James Beard Award contender. He mixes Southern flavors and Mexican classics at this fast-casual chain where tacos like the chopped smoked pork and fried chicken stand out. 

Taqueria del Sol also has brisket, carnita, fish, and veggie taco options. Hernandez cornered the fusion taco market early, and there are now multiple Taqueria del Sol locations in Atlanta. 

Raging Burrito & Taco

Raging Burrito & Taco is located in Downtown Decatur, and they have been serving up some of the best tacos in the Atlanta area since 1996. Some of the better tacos on the menu include the shredded beef brisket, baja fish, and chipotle chicken.  

Diners have the option of ordering either a two or three-taco plate that comes with a garden salad or beans and rice. As their name would suggest, Raging Burrito & Taco is also known for its creative burritos.
