If you're looking to listen to great music this weekend, you'll definitely want to check out House in the Park. The festival will be on Sunday, September 2 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Grant Park. It's highly recommended to show up early because the best picnic spots will be taken well before 10 a.m.! This music event is free to the public and will consist of four house artists: Kai Alice, Salah Ananse, Ramon Rawsoul, and Kemit will perform some of Atlanta’s best musical culture pieces. Feel free to bring your grill and a tent to tailgate with, but the open container law still stands during the event. However, there will be a bar!
Attention, all foodies! The Taste of Soul Atlanta is a two-day soul food and music festival that's right up your alley. The best part? This event is completely free to the public! The festival hopes to bring people together to enjoy delicious food in the world's Soul Food Capital, and, more specifically, at Vine City, the home of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Set your sights to the skies Labor Day weekend with the 20th annual Hot Air Balloon Festival. Adults can get a two-day pass for $34.95 plus tax, and kids are $24.95 plus tax. There will be live music, activities for kids such as face painting, beach activities, and even a Balloon Glow at night on Friday and Sunday. If you would rather fly than watch from below, you can ride a hot air balloon for just $10 a person! Gates open at 10 a.m. on Friday and Sunday and 6am on Saturday and go until Dusk. There will also be fireworks on Saturday night.
The Pure Heat Community Festival will also be kicking off this weekend celebrating efforts to bring HIV/AIDS awareness and education to everyone in local communities. The festival is free and open to the public and will be at Piedmont Park from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 2.
If you plan to get moving this Labor Day weekend, the Big Peach Sizzler 10k is the place to be. The race will be held on Monday, September 3 at 7:30am, and there will also be a 5k half an hour earlier. The race brings awareness to Cystic Fibrosis and aids a charity supporting Cystic Fibrosis research and helping the CF community. Finishers will receive a medal and a t-shirt as well as free race photos. Registration is open until August 30 and can be done online. The 10k costs $50, and the 5k costs $40.
